On October 12th, our little family went out to Gardner Village to have our fall family pictures taken by our "family photographer," a.k.a. Jolie! We didn't realize how difficult it really is to get pictures taken with a little one! I think Kailee is like me and doesn't like to get her picture taken, but we did come up with a few good ones! Thanks Jolie!
Witches Party
On October 17th, Jolie had a Witches Gathering party with all the girls in the family. Her parties are always so much fun and I always look forward to them. The night before Ryan had to work a night shift, 3:00-11:30pm, so I decided to keep Kailee and I entertained by making us some brooms for the Witches party! I went to Ben Franklin Crafts and wandered around the store for about 2hours trying to decide how to do it. Ryan was very grateful he had to work so he didn't have to wander around a girly craft store for hours and hours :) After a lot of work this is what we came up with! I do have to admit I was very surprised at how they turned out! They didn't get used this year other than at the party, but they do make cute decorations!
I went a little (ok, WAY) overboard dressing Kailee up for the party, but she did look cute!
A New Calling
Sunday October 25th brought some change... I was released from my calling as Relief Society Secretary and called to... Relief Society Secretary! Finally, a calling I have some experience with. Haha! Our R.S. Presidents husband was called to the bishopric so they released her so they wouldn't have two demanding callings in one family. So... the first counselor was called as the President, they called a new first counselor and the rest of us are the same. I was kind of looking forward to being done and moving on to something else, but I also felt kind of disappointed that we were done because I was just starting to get the hang of things. The other day the new president called me to go over some things. She mentioned how she noticed in my blessing from the bishopric they mentioned that I should act as another counselor to the president, she would really need my help and I would feel part of the presidency. I found it interesting that she noticed that because that was one of the things that was interesting to me. I never really felt as if I was a part of the previous presidency, I always felt I was the odd man out because of my lack of experience in the church. I was never given anything to do other than take roll and bring some fruit to our Mothers Day meeting... I really felt useless. The blessing I received from the Bishop really made me realize our Heavenly Father truly knows how we feel, he cares and wants to help make things better! I am actually excited to see what this new calling will bring!
Pumpkin Carving!
The night before Halloween we decided we had better get our pumpkins carved! I came up with the idea of what to carve each one, Ryan carved and Kailee watched. We all had our very important roles in this event!
Halloween!
This Halloween was a little different for us. Halloween is Stephs birthday and we usually spend the day/night with her and her family celebrating her birthday and trick-or-treating, but since her entire family had been sick for a few weeks, we decided we had better stay away... that meant we had to come up with our own plans.
So, this is what we came up with. Ryan washed the car in the morning and worked in the yard till about 3pm then we went to run some errands. My mom stopped by and gave Kailee some blankets, heavy duty ones for winter! Around 5ish we got dressed up and took Kailee around the neighborhood trick-or-treating. After a couple houses we decided we were finished because we felt silly for getting candy for our 5month old! We finished walking around the block and went home. We decided even though Steph and the family couldn't go out, we would still go to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. After dinner we stopped by Grandma Colleens for a few minutes. She gave Kailee a can of formula for her treat!! And then headed home for the night.
