I think the part of Sundays that is the most fun for me is that I can dress us all to match! I know it really is silly, but I just can't resist! I can get away with it right now too because Kailee actually asks to wear the same thing as me. Yes, right now, at 2 years old, it is COOL to be like mom! Oh silly girls!
Sunday evening our street was overtaken by seagulls for a little bit. Even though they are quite obnoxious, it really was pretty cool. We grabbed some bread and let Kailee run out to feed them.She was so funny. She would run up to them, throw the bread and then take off running back to the door. She wanted to be so brave and feed them, but she didn't want to stick around to see what happened!
On Monday Ryan had the day off for Memorial Day. We didn't have any big plans except to have our cable installed with Comcast. We had so many problems with our internet with Qwest and we had finally had enough so we made the switch. After the cable guy left we ran a few errands, but that was about it for the day. The only really exciting thing about the day was that Ellie has figured out how to crawl! (She really, really started Sunday night, but I just got a picture of her Monday night.) Yay, she's figured it out! It really seems like she is starting to take off on the things that she's learning. Now I am really in trouble! She has also started to walk along furniture. She really is trying to figure this out! Kailee has also started something new. She is trying her independence. Whenever we try to help her with something she says, "I wanna do it." It's great that she wants to try things on her own, but it's a new thing for us not to just take over and do everything for her. Oh our little determined girl! Ryan has always said that Kailee is Determined and Successful and we sure are seeing that in her these days! Actually, I guess we see it in both our girls.
Tuesday was another one of our typical days at home. Except this morning I got ready for the day first thing in the morning. Something new for me! I usually never end up getting ready for the day till the afternoon. While I was in the bathroom getting ready, the girls were having fun in the cupboard of our dresser. Pros and cons for everything right? I take time to get ready, but then there's a mess to clean up. At least they were having a good time I guess!!
After getting ready we had breakfast, cleaned the house really quick and then headed to the park. Somehow I need to figure how to be a Mom and a House Wife. I love to have the house clean, but it's also nice to be able to spend time playing with the girls. I just haven't quite figured out how to fit it all into one day! Hopefully I will get it figured out before the girls are all grown up. Anyhow, after our trip to the park we headed home for lunch and then nap time. While the girls slept I sat on the chair with them and watched a movie. I typically feel guilty for doing that because there are a lot of other things that I could be doing, but I allowed myself to rest while the girls rested. It actually was kinda nice for me and the girls slept a lot longer with me holding them! When Ryan got home we ran to the fabric store to get some fabric for a rag quilt for my neighbors baby shower on Saturday, cleaned the popcorn store and headed home for dinner. We found this recipe online for Maui Burgers and they were really yummy! It's really a gourmet hamburger. After dinner we headed out for our nightly walk around the neighborhood which is always relaxing for all of us. Ryan and I enjoy getting out right before dark and it seems to help calm both girls. After our walk, the girls both had a bath and were off to bed! I started this recap of the day by saying it was a typical day at home, but looking back over it, we actually did quite a bit! What a fun day!
Wednesday night I worked up the nerve and went to a baby shower for a girl in our ward who adopted a little baby girl. I am usually not one to go to things like that but I was feeling a little brave I guess. It also helps that Ryan encourages me to go to things like that and is willing to stay with the girls. The shower was at the church and I went over with Trisha Baker so that made it a little easier. Once I got there I actually had a good time. It was fun to hear the story of her adoption, see the cute things she got as gifts and visit with the other girls there. I was gone for about an 1 1/2 hours and when I walked through the door it felt like chaos! Ryan looked frustrated holding a crying Ellie and the house was a mess! Good thing I got home when I did! I felt bad for him, but I also found it a little humorous because that is how it is for me everyday! It is hard to be home alone with both girls, especially when they are tired. I am grateful Ryan is still willing to do it while I get out for a minute or two.
My mom must have been inspired on Thursday because she stopped by after work around 1pm and hung out with the girls outside while I worked on the blanket for my neighbor. Kailee always gets so excited when Grandma comes over. Probably because she gets so much attention from her! Grandma took both girls outside to swing and then they played with their big bouncy ball. It sure helped me out because I was able to get started on the blanket an get quite a bit done. Thanks Mom for stopping by and helping out!
Thanks to Ryan I was able to finish the blanket Friday evening while he kept the girls entertained. It's so fun for me to do small projects like that. It sure makes it a lot easier that Ryan is so supportive and will help me with them. After I got the squares all sewn together Ryan cute all the edges for me! That's the most time consuming part too! Thank Ry for your help!
Saturday morning Ryan went to popcorn store to get it cleaned while I went to the laundromat to wash the rag quilt before I went to the baby shower. Just as the blanket finished and I was heading home my mom called and said she was heading over. She wanted to see the finished blanket and also wanted me to go over to Downeast with her. She has been on the hunt for a bed for Kamryn and wanted to see if there was one there that would be inexpensive. I knew I was cutting it close on time and probably shouldn't have gone, but I couldn't turn down an opportunity to stop at that store. It is definitely a weakness for me! Anyhow, I made it back home in just enough time to quickly dry my hair, get changed and make it to the baby shower. This shower was for Ashley Funk our next door neighbor. We very rarely see her and her husband and when we do we just say hi and how are you. Sometimes it even seems a little awkward. I am also supposed to visit teach her, but haven't done it because they aren't active right now. I really had to work up the nerve to go to her shower. I wanted to because I'd like to get to know her a little better, but it really seems like having kids is the only thing we have in common! Anyways, I went over with Kailee, sat and visited with her friends and mom for a minute, got some food for Kailee and then headed home. I am glad I went, and she seemed happy that we stopped by. After I got home, we headed out to the Zoo. Kailee was excited to ride the merri-go-round, but then once she got on she didn't want to sit on any of the animals. She just wanted to sit in the stationary chair! Silly girl! She was also really afraid of the giant dinosaurs they had throughout the park. She didn't want to get anywhere near them! Oh she makes me laugh! Little Ellie belly just stayed in her seat in the stroller most of the time. Trips to the Zoo are always pretty interesting. It sounds like fun to go see all the animals, the girls care a little bit about the animals but not a lot, then we leave and it doesn't seem like it was that exciting. But for some reason, we still go! And I am sure we will go again next year!
When we got home from the Zoo, we headed out for a quick bike ride. The girls LOVE to go for bike rides! They really have a lot of fun riding in the bike trailer. It's nice for us too because it really helps to calm them down and get them ready to go to sleep!
This week we started to say bedtime prayers with Kailee. Ryan and I would take turns each night saying the prayer and Kailee would repeat what we said. Oh talk about melting your heart! She would talk so soft and so so sweet. She was so excited to be doing that. She has also slept so good all week. She has been staying in her own bed till about 6:30am!
Ellie on the other hand has been a little more difficult. She has done nothing but cry and whine. And, she stopped sleeping. Later in the week I realized it was because she wasn't feeling the best. Towards the end of the week she seemed to start feeling a little better and stopped crying as much. She also started to sleep a teeny tiny little bit more.

Oh dear Ellie Belly! She is a little trouble maker. I had Kailee down for a nap on Wednesday. Ellie had other plans for her!
